Lynn Henderson
French Horn
Originally from Cornwall, Lynn Henderson is a horn player specialising in orchestral playing, activism, contemporary chamber and community music. She started learning with music service lessons, joining South West Music School at 14 and then on to Wells Cathedral School, the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and then the Royal Academy of Music for masters.
Highlights from her career so far include leading a Sinfonia Cymru Curate project titled No Music On a Dead Planet, a fellowship year with Wigmore Hall Learning, including premiering an RPS commission as well as performing with BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Sinfonia Cymru, Echo Ensemble, Nevis Ensemble, Random Opera, the Welsh Pops Orchestra, the Divertimento Ensemble, Orpheus Sinfonia and the St Endellion Festival Orchestra.
Her community music experience includes performing with Nevis Ensemble in a range of settings, including prisons, hospices and refugee centres, leading workshops for Sinfonia Cymru and delivering engagement programmes with multiple London orchestras.
Lynn is currently the chair of the Musicians’ Union Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, alongside sitting on the Freelance Orchestral Committee. She is the steward for Sinfonia Cymru and the education rep for Ealing Music Service. Previously she has sat on the TUC Women’s Committee and delivered motions at TUC Women’s Conference.
