Rowan Sawday, aka Dizraeli
Mentor – Vocalist, Performance & Music Production Specialist
A multi-instrumentalist, MC, singer, and producer from Bristol. Rowan Sawday, better known by his stage name Dizraeli, is a British rapper, poet and musician. Though rooted strongly in hip-hop traditions, his work draws inspiration from old folk music, recognising the common ground shared by songs of the people from any point in history.
Dizraeli has performed at the Glastonbury Festival, the Latitude Festival, the Eden Project, and the Royal Festival Hall. He has won both the Farrago UK Slam Championship and the BBC Radio 4 Poetry Slam. He has written several hip-hop plays including Rebel Cell, with Baba Brinkman. Dizraeli & The Small Gods were shortlisted for the 2014 Songlines Music Awards for their album Moving in the Dark. In 2015 they collaborated on a new video for the title track, with Jamie Magnus Stone.
In 2016 Dizraeli released his EP “Eat My Camera” and continued to tour as a solo artist. He once vowed never to fly again, only to get work in Cairo, and therefore traveled there over land. Following a moving project with Boomtown, The Unmaster theatre project toured in 2018, developing into a full-scale theatre project. Since then, Dizaeli has spent his time recording, producing and performing new music. In 2024, Dizraeli released his new album, Joy Machine, recorded at the legendary Total Refreshment Centre in London.
