Dr Trevor Wiggins
Mentor – Multi-Instrumentalist, & Ethnomusicologist
SWMS mentor, Dr Trevor Wiggins, has experience as a performer on trumpet and piano, an educator/lecturer in schools and university, and a researcher/editor for books and journals. He has a Masters degree in Music Analysis, and a PhD in Ethnomusicology and Music Education. Much of his research was based in Ghana in West Africa and he was made an honorary Ghanaian chief in 2013.
From 1991–2010 he was Director of Music at Dartington College of Arts and developed links with universities and colleges across Europe, in the USA, New Zealand and Australia. He has a substantial output of academic publications, including co-editing and writing the Oxford Handbook of Children’s Musical Cultures (OUP 2013).
He now runs a digital publishing company with his wife, plays piano duets for fun, and walks his dogs every day!
